The photograph
Upper Antelope Canyon by Tuxyso, Page, Arizona. Licensed CC BY-SA 3.0. The crop shipped as img/ground.jpg is an adaptation and is offered under the same licence.
Measured on the shipped file: chroma 0.088 in OKLCh against a floor of 0.045, hue 49, 10.5% of pixels dark, median gradient 4.0.
A Public-Domain slot-canyon photograph by Carol M. Highsmith was the first choice — a single shaft of light falling into the gap, which is this product in one image. It measured 52.8% dark pixels, and 37–47% at every crop tried. A cream page cannot sit on that without veiling it, and veiling the photograph is the failure this family of sites keeps repeating. Chosen by looking; refused by measuring.

Contracts, none of them ours
- Uniswap — the Universal Router, v3 pools and v4's PoolManager and StateView. Every trade Shim builds is a call to the router.
- Permit2 — the allowance the router uses to move your dollars.
- Multicall3 — so every price on a page is read at one block.
- Global Dollar (USDG), issued by Paxos — the dollar every order starts and ends in.
Shim deploys nothing. contracts/ holds a second implementation of the clearing arithmetic in Solidity, which exists to be executed against on the real chain as a check on the first — not to be deployed.
